Marriage certificates don't usually say where the parents of the couple were born or married. You have to follow the trail. See my website for information on how to search Italian records.

a birth certificate is just for the person you ask for. What you are looking for is a Stato di Famiglia.

The records for Pisa have been microfilmed by the Mormon Church and can be viewed at any of their Family History Centres.

It looks like the records for at least his birth and probably his parents marriage have been microfilmed, so you can do at least that. I don't know what the parish records are like but that you have to do at the church in Italy with the priests permission.

If you don't have any luck with the town, try the parish priest. Be sure to leave a donation. The town should ba able to provide you with his telephone number.

suanj is right the certificates are free, but many comunes in my area are beginning to charge for the search, the photocopy (if you ask for that) and the postage and mailing costs. Especially communes that get lots of requests.

Matekine is the Anglicized version of the surname Mattuchina. Some comunes want to be paid for providing records but don't have the means to request payment in a form they can deal with. You may need the intervention of someone in Italy to resolve this situation.
