song line translation

Hi all I was recently told that a relative of mine, in his youth (in the 1930s), was a handy organetto player...I believe they are the piano accordian instruments, and he would go about town singing sonnetos to young ladies. One particular little song went: “bellezza mia di questo cuore tua madre ti...

lista di leva translation

Hi everyone
Just hoping to get a translation of a relative's military record.
I know he spent time in a bersaglieri regiment in 1915 however does not seem to be
mentioned here. I am still trying to get his full record but this is all I have at the moment.

Kind regards

Relative's military record clarification

Hi everyone Just have a military record of a relative and was confused with a couple of dates. Does it appear that he did military service in Italy in June, 1907?? And did he do the same in (not sure what month) 1911? He had migrated to New York to have a family but I know he visited Italy circa 190...

269th Battaglione di Milizia Territoriale

Hi everyone I have a relative's WW1 record which states that he joined the 269th Battaglione di Milizia Territoriale in May 1914 and served there in WW1. I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about this unit?? Was it attached to a regiment/brigade? Location in WW1? P.S. For some reason at th...

Hi cedrone! I just have a record of his death as noted in the records of his hometown, Rapone (Basilicata).
The death record does not seem to mention where he was buried, unless I missed it????

Re: ciclista???

Hi mjclayton1 ! You are right! I just found out from an aunt that the relative in question did ride in a competitive race on at least one occasion with some success (he crashed out while in 2nd place). It was not the Giro, but a local race...still impressive I think. The young man loved to cycle, an...

Re: ww1 military record translation

Thanks Angela for your help!!! Very appreciated as always. Yes, I had seen his name on the cadutigrandeguerra register previously but thank you anyway. The record gets more personal in some ways with that little note that he had fallen asleep while on duty. Very touching as the family has no photo o...
