Re: Will we have to pay taxes to Italy

If you take up full-time residence in Italy (defined as spending more than 183 days of a calendar year), then you will pay Italian income taxes on your earnings, no matter where your employer is located. Technically, you would also owe US taxes on your worldwide income, no matter where you are resi...

Re: Please help with a birth record

I know this is a very poor copy. The printer at the LDS history center is so antiquated, I can barely read this tiny film on the reader, so the copies are worse. I apolgize, I don't know what else to do. That said, is there anyone who can make out names in this. I think, but am not sure, it should ...

Will we have to pay taxes to Italy

I've decided I want to start the process of getting dual citizenship, soon. Hopefully, this year. Most of my relatives are on board. My siblings, my mother, and my grand uncle are all excited about the idea. The one concern my uncle expressed was whether or not we'd have to pay taxes to Italy. If so...

Re: Best DNA Testing Company?

I was wondering for those of you who have submitted swabs for DNA testing, which company would be the largest and/or most respectable? I decided I really want to do this, and would love to hear any experiences anyone might have. Thanks! That's so funny!! I was just on a DNA website TODAY. I'm consi...

Re: Is Casto an Italian name?

Who would have guessed? There is a small comune (population about 1900) in Lombardia named Casto: http://www.comune.casto.bs.it/ (may be slow to load) That's interesting because I figured if it was Italian, it would be Northern Italian (since before the late 1800's-1900's, most immigrants from the ...

Re: Is Casto an Italian name?

Thanks for the links, Carmine!! I'll try contacting some of the ones with emails, right away. I found a site that appears to be made by a member of the same Casto family. It's pretty interesting. It said a family legend in many branches of the Casto's, is that the there were two Casto brothers, and ...

Re: Love the new site

Not really feeling the new site. Its got me all confused and gives me the feeling Ive never been here before :( I personally got used to it pretty quickly. The basic features are still in place, and some new ones have been added. You'll adapt to it, just give yourself a little time to get familiar ...

Re: Is Casto an Italian name?

Where in WV? Maybe I can provide another Casto family, but in the Steubenville OH. Steubenville is in close proximity to PA, WV, and OH in a sort of triangle. I worked with two sisters with the Casto name. I am not in touch with them personally right now, but I can make the connection for you. Hi, ...

Re: Is Casto an Italian name?

That's right, I completely forgot about that website!

So it is possible there is an Italian ancestor somewhere along the line? That name doesn't sound Northern European to me, at all.

Is Casto an Italian name?

I've been researching my (non-Italian) dad's line. His father has Southern roots, and I found a WV relative with the surname "Casto". This sounds to me like it could be Italian, doesn't it? It doesn't sound at all Northern European to me, is this name common in Italy? My dad is a bit of an...
