Re: Angelo Raffaele Stoppa
Thanks Tessa. Are you able to tell me anything more about Luigi and Giovanni Stoppa who both died in Turin? Did they marry? I know all about Celestino (my grandfather) and Carlo who both came to England, but I would love to fill in the two missing links. Can you or anyone help? Thank you. The dates...

Re: town of birth
I believe you are reading correctly as Saline.
Margherita di Savoia in Foggia was known as Saline.

Can you post the arrival manifest? Also - there are 8 listings in the Italian Phone Book (landline) for surname STOPPA Perhaps a relative among them? Re: Was this the groom's first marriage?
The poster stated that the couple immigrated to USA in 1881
It is likely they died there, and not in Italy.

Re: Was this the groom's first marriage?
If he was a widower, the death act of his first wife would have been listed on page two among the documents presented to the official for the marriage. No death act is listed.

Re: Assistance with missing birth acts
Be happy to look at them!
The death of Luigi's grandfather, Orazio Maulella, is attested by the parish. It gives no details that I can see, including the year, but only that he is deceased. And that this was provided for the marriage of Luigi.
