Explain Emigration to Toritto of Spouse

See attachment. 5 years before her husband died in Grumo Appula, Filomena Scarola apparently "emigrated" to Toritto. Please explain - never saw this before anywhere else. Also would like to find her death record.

Re: Find Birth Record

I did but nothing found. Not sure if records are lost as the public ones end in 1899. I'm thinking that maybe a church record is the only route. Her US death record gives the place as Carpinone. Her parents also had children in Grumo Appula and Pisciotto as well as Carpinone where their previous chi...

Find Birth Record

My grandmother, Mariantonia Fariello, was born February 7, 1903 in Carpinone, Isernia. Their birth records end at 1899. Can someone find a birth or baptismal record for her? Parents are Rocco Fariello and Filomena Scarola.

Re: Did my grandfather receive an Army Pension

That was his service card. I have it and used it to obtain some of the information I presented here. The other link brings me to the National Archives where I tried earlier to submit a request, but never received the confirmation it said that I should get within 25 seconds of the request. So I do no...

Re: Did my grandfather receive an Army Pension

He died in 1981 and my grandmother died in 1974. They had little money and no will. What makes me curious is the story that my father told me about his father's service in WW1 (my grandfather never talked about it). In the trenches in France, they were ordered to charge the German line. Machine gunf...

Re: Did my grandfather receive an Army Pension

Ancestry.com has no image. The National archives are complicated beyond belief and therefore useless. The national archives says it takes 25 seconds to confirm a submitted request, yet they never confirm after you click on Submit. If government was a profit and loss business dependent on customer de...

Did my grandfather receive an Army Pension

Years ago, family members now deceased, said that my grandfather, Salvatore Puma, who served in France in trench warfare in 1918 for the US Army during World War 1 was receiving a small military pension. Is there a way to verify that and especially find out the reason why he received a pension? Here...

Find my second cousin

I am trying to find and contact a living second cousin, Francesca Puma, who was born and married in Racalmuto, Sicily. I have attached a civil record showing that she was born on January 17, 1958 and married Vincenzo Tirone on June 13, 1979. I also know that her parents were Gaetano Puma and Rosa Sc...

Re: What did our Italian Ancestors do for Fun

One card game my grandfather loved to play was pronounced Breesk (don't know the true spelling). 8s, 9s, and 10s were removed from the deck. You were dealt only 3 cards each and kept picking from the deck. One card turned over from the deck was trump. You could play whatever card you wanted and did ...

Re: What did our Italian Ancestors do for Fun

Sure. The wealthy would have also done theatre and opera. The non-wealthy may have done some religious church and town festivals.

What did our Italian Ancestors do for Fun

Since the 1900s, Americans have played many different games both indoors and outdoors (sports, card games, video games, movies, TV, radio, etc.). What did our ancestors in Italy in the 1800s and before do for fun? I'm thinking that they worked such long hours, that maybe very little.

Find the children of my grandmother's siblings

They are all from Polizzi Generosa in Sicily. The parents were Giuseppe Cascio (1859 - 1907) and Lucia Trabunella (1865- ?). I have photos of the sisters in old age in Italy with their children and grandchildren, but no names that my father got from his father (both deceased now). The sisters are: A...
