Re: I was told to give up!

Who told you to give up? Just want to give my thoughts here on "early" naturalization. I found arrival records for ancestor in question. He got here in 1900 and filed a Declaration of Intention in 1903. The Prothonotary of Cameron County PA provided the copy and indicated in writing that n...

Re: No Record Found from USCIS

I have received the correct letter from USCIS and I also have letters from the local courts indicating the ancestor never naturalized. Why must I have something from NARA as well? If it's absolutely necessary, how do I get this letter from NARA? Please advise. Grazie.

Re: No Record Found from USCIS

Philly did my paperwork. No mention whatsoever about Census. Furthermore, not everyone is always in the right place at the right time to answer a Census. While a Census does count the majority, it's impossible for it to count everybody.

Re: No Record Found from USCIS

A census record won't help if your ancestor gave conflicting dates of arrival and listed himself as Naturalized when all other documents say he was not. Letters from USCIS and the local court(s) should suffice.

No, an Italian recognized by blood can never lose his citizenship just like an American born on the soil cannot.

Re: Unresponsive comune, its been almost a year!!!

No, I didn't have to send them anything. Italians drink new wine (made from the grape harvest in September) and they eat new Olives, which they start picking in October. Every Italian looks forward to this time of year, including the officials in the Comuni so I was just wishing him a "Good Aut...

Re: Unresponsive comune, its been almost a year!!!

I had no trouble whatsoever receiving letters from the official at Comune di Platania, Catanzaro Calabria. But then I was writing to him in September and October and told him I hope he's enjoying the new olives and the new wine.

Re: Illiteracy and Naturalization in 1903

Excellent point about it being easy to confuse Na for Pa on the old census records, most of which are written with an antiquated style penmanship.

Re: Unresponsive comune, its been almost a year!!!

The only way I've gotten any Consulate to respond to an email is if they talked to me on the phone first.

Re: How to know when your citizenship has been approved by I

If the Consulate accepts your documents, you will be approved. The Consulate would not bother sending a case to the Comune for registration if it were not a valid case.

Re: Illiteracy and Naturalization in 1903

Hi Karen, yes, USCIS says that neither father, Angelo or son, Frank were ever naturalized. I have hit all the places I could hit to try to prove otherwise and just finished up today with my last call to the local court in Cameron County, PA, afterwhich they came up empty. Same deal. This father and ...

They won't respond to email because there is really no proof who is sending it. Write them a snail mail letter.

Re: How to know when your citizenship has been approved by I

Really, I never heard of that. When I submitted my US birth certificate, I never saw it again and in fact, after I got my Italian passport, I ordered and paid for another one because I thought I should have it. Another thing, I lived in my Comune in Italy for ten years. I got all my Italian document...

Re: I Need Help Analyzing My Info

Mler, I'm beginning to think you're correct because it also lists all the names and birthdates of the children and their place of residence and it includes two witnesses. Per example: Witnesses: W.R. Sizer -- Merchant Emporium, PA C.R. Hused -- Clerk Emporium, PA Admitted August 4, 1913 - # 405951 I...
