I checked the indices for the births of years 1896 to 1905 (some years missing) and found no Cartalemi/Cartaleni

I am not familiar with 23andMe but to me paternal haplogroup should be based on Y DNA which only men have. Not sure how they predict this for a woman.

Either start with Ancestry or FTDNA but ultimately do both, it expands your reach to related DNA. Surnames were based upon geographic origin, physical description, occupation, or father's name of the person for whom the surname first became permanent. This began to happen in the 13th-14th centuries. Prior to this, no one really had permanent surnames. They changed with each generation/person.

Two very different answers. I think if you compare it to Mri and Miano it does kind of look like an M. Mauro is in the lead.
