Looking for relatives in Cicagna (Genova) Emilie Crovo

Post by timbar »

My great grandfather came from Italy to Norway in 1876, he was born 14.10.1856 His name was Emilio Crovo and he was probably from Cicagna in Genova. He married my great grandmother which was from Norway (Os) Bergen. They had 12 children together, but only 8 grew up, One died when he was 16 years old.

I know that my grandfather tried to find out if he had relatives in Italy after his father died in 1910, but with bad results.

In the marrige paper her from Bergen he tells that his father was Agostin Crovo and mother Maria Madalena Crovo.

It is many of us in Norway which hopes to find out something about Emilios relatives, if he had sisters and brotheres etc. What happend with his parents etc?

I would be very thankful if anybody could help us with informations

Timbar, you may want to re-post this under "Italian Genealogy" (the top forum listing). It will get more views there...

My father's family was from Sicily but my maternal grandfather's family came from Larvik, Norway.

There are several family trees for Crovo from Cicagna on Ancestry.com.

I didn't find your Emilio but there was a Agostino Crovo born in 1823 married to Maria Porcella. It doesn't list Emilio as a son, but the children were born starting in the 1850s. If Emilio emigrated to Norway perhaps he is not well known in the extended family.

I'm sure others here will help you.

Hi - here's the October 29, 1858 birth (in Cicagna) of a Maria Emilia Crovo:

It's hard to read, but her father's name seems to be "Agastino di Giovanni" and her mother's name looks like "Rosa Porcella di Giovanni."

Looks like godmother was Maria Porcella, mother's sister. I wonder what the family relationship is to the ones I mentioned above.

I'd ask timbar how does he know the family was from Cicagna.
Is it a guess, a family story, or is there some document stating it?
