Hi Paul,

To trace family in Italy, you have to know the exact town of origin. This is obtained (hopefully) by getting all available records on your ancestor & his family that may contain the town information. Examples: Juan Russo's (b. 1879 Calabria) death record; his ship manifest, all birth records of his children born in Argentina; and church records. Many times church records for baptisms & marriages will contain additional information that was required by the church, but not by the civil office.
