Pietra from Reppia, Chiavari
Pietra from Reppia, Chiavari
After 3 years of research into our Italian Ancestors , we have finally found that our ancestor Caterina Pietra came from the Reppia area near Chiavari, and between 1869 and 1872 married John (Giovanni) Baptist Raffo, also we believe from the same area. Could anyone please offer any help as to how we go about tracking down, and obtaining, a marriage certificate from this area. Thanks in anticipation

Re: Pietra from Reppia, Chiavari
Hi Valarie,
Thanks for you help, it took the Commune over 6 months to reply , and even then they only provided a document that gave the date they got married. We had decided to go to Italy for holidays, so went into the commune, and asked directly for information. They produced the book, which covered two pages for our marriage, but would not tell us what it said. We did however manage to get the grooms , and brides parents from them, which obviously helped enormously, but they didn't know which church they had got married in !!.
By another stroke of luck we found the right church , and now have a direct link to the records.
Thanks for pointing us in the right direction
