Pontremoli

Post by eddienyr »

Can anyone tell me anything about this surname? From what
I know I think during WW1 my wifes greatgrandfather mysteriously
sent his three sons to live in other european countrys. If
I remember a story correctly one of them made it to the
USA cali I think. One of the other family members was trying
to track them down. They were apparently paid a visit by
the FBI I think asking why they were trying to find them.
As far as I know this is true info. Anybody know anything.

Thanks
Eddie

If you go to www.google.cvomand put in the title Pontremoli Surname Genealogy Italy you will find a rich source of information about the surname and its geography as well as it Jewish connections which you may well enjoy to research for your own satsifactionand intellectual enjoymenht.

The surname Pontremoli is not listed inthe Italian surname dictionary but it most likely an imported surname and italianized or local in its origins (tuscany?). =Peter=

But Pontremoli is a well known town too - it's in the hills between Parma and La Spezia.

>PONTREMOLI<

And here is a link to an explanation of the surname which also mentions the same area:
