Does anyone have information on:

FRANCESCO ANZELMO, who was married to VITA GUDDEMI.
They had GIROLAMO ANSELMO.

or...

VITO GUDDEMI who was married to MARGUERITA VAVUSA.
They had PASQUALE GUDDEMI.

Do you need help with US records or direction with how to locate records in Italy?
Do you know where they were born/married?

Hi! :)

Help on how to locate records in Italy would be amazing! That's most of my problem with Francesco-he never immigrated from Burgio.

Girolamo was born in Burgio in 1882, and his mother Vita was born in 1854. I have no dates for Francesco.

Vito, Margherita, and Pasquale have no dates either-it's part of the reason I'm having such a rough time with this.

Any help is appreciated more than you know!

You could review your family’s records on microfilm.

Your nearest Family History Center has records for Burgio on microfilm.
The cost is about $6 mo (rent), you’ll need to go to the center to order & view them.

Do you think they would have the ability to find records with such avgue information?

If so, what do I include with my letter?

Katie

The comune should be able to locate a birth record within a year.
I would start with a request for Girolamo in 1882 with his parent's names
The interactive letter has instructions, do not include $
A self-addressed return envelope is always nice.

In the meantime, you may want to go ahead and call your nearest Family History Center to confirm their hours.
Since it may take abt 4 weeks for microfilm to arrive, you might want to go ahead and visit your center to order a few films.

Valarie,

What kind of form would the information come in from the comune?

Will a FHC have a machine to read the microfilms that I can use?

Sorry if these seem like ridiculous questions, I'm very new to this.

Katie,
Not at all :D .
Your questions are terrific!
Valarie

The information from the comune will be an extract of the birth record:

parent's names
time, date and location of birth

It will be in Italian.
You can scan it and post it to the forum for translation if you need help.

The original record on the microfilm usually includes
parents' ages and occupations
and sometimes grandparent's names, especially if needed for clarification of common names in the comune

Yes the FHC should be fully equipped.
The folks there are very nice and can help you order your films, show you how to use the readers and explain how to make copies.

My grandfather was Vito Guddemi but he married Liboria Maniscalco. Their first child was Pasquale, my father.

Actually, the Vito you are talking about is my great-grandmother's brother, I believe. I've been told that she came from Italy with Liboria, and then Liboria married Vito. I think that makes us cousins?

Hi Katie, Yes, we are definintely cousins. I'm curious about the Vito Guddemi you mentioned who was married to Marguerita Vavusa. This is the first time I heard of Marguerita Vavusa. Can you tell me where they fit in the family tree?

Margherita and Vito guddemi were the parents of Girolamo Guddemi who married Domenica Riggio. They had 8 children including Margherita. Pasquale (their son) married Rosalia Musso.

Confusing with all the name similarities, huh?
