Stuck. Please assist

Post by Romano1970 »

I have been looking at the documents for so long now that I think i may be missing something right in front of me. I have been stuck getting past my grandfathers parents. ( they did not come to America).

My grandfather Lorenzo Romano came to america through Boston in 1913 on sept 23. On the ship The SS Palermo , sailing from Palermo. From the looks of the manifest he was traveling with 5 other people.
Salvatore Papalia
Giuseppe Papalia
Carmelo La (Lo) Mattina
Filippo La (Lo) Mattina
Giuseppe Purazzo
I beleive my grandfather and the Papalias were cousins because on there three lines the person they are coming to be with is Sebastiano Papalia and it shows cousin.

What I am trying to accomplish is getting any information on any of these five individuals. that could then lead to maore information about my grandfather.

Did they live close to one another whenthey arrived in the USA and if they died after 1962 you might be able to see if they lived cloe to one another over the years. See if you can pick them up on the social security death index. =Peter=

Dont know Peter. It is just I have written to Italy so many time without response. I thought until I heard from them instead of sitting dormant I would try another venue. Possibly within a couple years after they came to america they would have still possibly had contact with eachother. Possibly some notations on documents Like my grandfather being a witness to something. I have found on my grandmothers side that her brother Salvatore Nigrelli's wife stood witness to a friend of hers for naturalization.

Any thing that can help.

Hello T.

Yes it is. I started that on a trail for Ancestry.

Like I said to Peter. I am just trying to search all avenues to find information while waiting on a response from Italy. I dont like sitting dormant. This site has done so much for me, I hope I am not being pushy with my requests here.

I have tried to also email to Italy. However everytime I send one it comes back as failed. Is there an email for the city hall that anyone knows that works for sure.

Thank you again for EVERYONES help here on IG.
