Angelo Naldi in Firenze

Post by RKE10 »

Hi:
I'm Looking for information about Angelo Naldi, born around 1867 in Florence. He had at least two children, a daughter born around 1898 and a son, born around 1902. His wife's name may have been Assunta. I have already done an extensive search on the basic Ancestry.com, but not the world edition. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

From the site Ellisisland.org the 1903 arrival for Angelo Naldi's wife and little daughter...
Naldi Cantieri (maiden name) Assunta, age 35, from Florence to NYC to join her husband Angelo Naldi living on Bleecker street.. Travelling with her daughter Maria Naldi, age 5...

Angelo may have made several trips to the US; here are two likely manifests, one of which he is travelling with his son aged 4 in 1906.

Florence is pretty good at responding to record requests.

Thank you, everyone. This confirms the information I found on Ancestry. How do I go about getting information from Florence? Are their any websites that might have searchable data bases? I would like to find birth and death dates as well as the names of the family members (including the little boy born in 1906). I'm obviously new to genealogy research so I really appreciate all the help! Would it be worth spending the extra $$ for the world edition of Ancestry?

There is a registry Office in each Comune in Italy where vital records canbeobtained but you need to know the full name and year of birth or even an approximate year of birth (usually 5-10 years depending upon local policy)

Thed Firenhze address is UFFICIO DI STATO CIVILE, Lugarno Vespucci 38, 50123 Firenze, Toscana Italy.

Since your new perhaps youmight benefit from the website onthe use of form letters in Italian and what documents can be requested.

In Lungarno Vespucci 38 you will find the US Consulate, the Ufficio di Sato Civile has the following address:

Ufficio di Stato Civile
Palazzo Vecchio
P.za Signoria
50122 Firenze
Italy

(there is no need to indicate the Region in the address)

I'm confused. Do I write to the Registry office first, or or the Civil registration Office? I'm assuming the above address is for the Civil Office? I have only the names and possible year of birth.

Angleo Naldi born ~1867
Wife Auunta Cantieri born ~1868
Maria Rosa Naldi born ~1898
Son born ~1902

That is all I can get from Ancestry.com
I want to send off a letter ASAP so I can continue my search. Thanks for the link with all the form letters -- I will be using those!

Thank you so much. So -- do I send this information to the registry office or the civil registration office? Or both? I am using a form letter found on the site mentioned above.

Are they the same office in Florence?

Sorry to have so many questions -- I've just started the European search!

The Ufficio di Stato Civile is the CIVIL REGISTRATION OFFICE and the place to request extracts (estratti) of births, marriages and deaths.

The correct address appears to be UFFICIO DI STATO CIVILE, VIALE GIOVINE ITALIA 6, 50122 FIRENZE ITALIA

Sorry for one or more errors. =Peter=

Yes if you so wish. I just happened to notice that the address Livio furnished is the new address and the one I furnished no longer exists. Livio is correct and I was in error. I apologize for the error.

It's been five weeks since I sent my letter to Florence. How long does it typically take to get a response? Also -- since I did not send any money, but rather asked in my letter how they would like me to pay -- will they send me a bill before or with my information? Thanks for any help. It's really hard to wait!
