Could someone please explain to me what the abbreviations "Na", "Pa" and "La" mean under the heading "Naturalization" in the 1930 census?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Census abbreviations
Na = Naturalized = the person is a Naturalized US citizen
Pa = Papers = the person has submitted a "Declaration of Intent" to become a US citizen. Also referred to as "First Papers"
La = I presume you meant "Al"?
Al = Alien = the person is a citizen of a country other than the US
