Vessecchia Family
Vessecchia Family
Hello, I just starting out and would like to know any information on the Vessecchia family. I believe that they come from the town of Colle Sannita. My grandfather was born here in America, but his oldest sibling was born in Italy. Her name as I knew her was Lilly. I do know from what my grandfather told me that she had come to America as a small child 6 or 7 years in age. From some records that I have found there was a small girl named Libera that was on a manifest in 1906. I beleive that my great grandfathers name was Guiseppe Vessecchia. Can you tell me if Libera in fact was the daughter of Guiseppe and if so can you supply his wife's name as well. Any other information on the family would be appreciated as well.
Thank you,
Louis Vessecchia
Thank you,
Louis Vessecchia
Re: Vessecchia Family
If you look at the manifest for the passenger ship you are talking about, the wife was traveling with the daughter, 6 year old Libera Vessecchia. The mother's name was Rosa Galasso and she was traveling to her husband Giuseppe in NY
Ship: The Antonio Lopez March 14, 1906. Their last residence was Colle Sannito.

Re: Vessecchia Family
Thank you so much for the information. Is there any other information on any silbings and parents of Guiseppe and Rosa?

Re: Vessecchia Family
You will need to search the surname Vessecchia either on ellisislandrecords.org or on www.stevemorse.org (use the gold form) and you will see others with the last name from the same town. You will have to go through each passenger list yourself, reading the information on each, to see if you can determine who might be related to Giuseppe's family.
Re: Vessecchia Family
In order for members to provide accurate help, more detail is needed.
Starting with what you know to be solid information, working back one generation at a time. Placing the family on US records is a great way to start, and will enable you to get a clear picture of the family unit.
Where in the US did the family reside? Do you have any birth dates? Place? Marriage records? Spouse's name? Maiden name if known....children and birth dates? Even a rough estimate will help...Death dates? Place?

If he used the name Joseph, his birth name could very well have been Guiseppe.I beleive that my grandfathers name was Guiseppe Vessecchia.
