Cirillo Benedetti - Udine, Italy

Post by Helly »

Hi :)

Looking for my partners fathers family to incorporate into my own family tree.

His father, Cirillo Benedetti, was born in April 1900, we think the 5th.

Lived in Udine, Italy.

Emigrated to Australia about 1920 and arrived in Melbourne or Sydney (I have found him previously on a passenger list but cannot for the life of me find it again!)

Died in Perth, Western Australia 1981, that record is here:
http://www.mcb.wa.gov.au/NameSearch/det ... FC00009350

My partner was only 17 when his dad died and his mum died 3yrs later. He has no further info as he has no siblings and never met any of his fathers relatives - there were 10 brothers/sisters so it should be a large family.

Can anyone help me or point me where to look? I always seem to find that famous Mario Benedetti :)

Helen

You can search passengers from this link, and there are individuals with the Benedetti surname, but I don't see any Cirillo.

The above is the email address for the anagrafe or registry office in Udine, Italy. Now that you have an emigration date for Cirillo Benedetti to Australia and the ship information, perhaps if you sent an email to this office, including his estimated year of birth, you may be able to get you the names of Cirillo's parents and more information about the family. The email should be written in Italian.

Cirillo BENEDETTI
Series number PP302/1
Control symbol WA5347
Contents date range 1928 - 1942
Access status Not yet examined
Location Perth
Barcode 1612577

I found the above on the National Archives of Australia website. I think it has to do with an application for naturalization, but don't know for sure. There are some 233 individuals with the Benedetti surname in that database, but no way to tell if there is any connection. Oddly, if you click on the date of decision for Cirilllo Benedetti, it says Jan 1, 1900. You'll have to further investigate this.

Once you search the surname on this site, hit display to see the 233 entries.

I used these form letters plus google translate to write the letter, thanks very much, very informative.

As my partner has no siblings it's going to be great to find him some relatives :) I'm also working on finding his mothers relatives and they are English and also migrated to Australia but easier to find, I have my mum doing that research for me.

I do not know if this helps I have relatives on my mothers side of the familly(Treppo) who are Benedetti's.

My nonna was Lucia Benedetti(1902-1997) her father Paolo Benedetti(1862-??) and his father Giovanni Benedetti

Lucia was born in a small town called Monteprato , near Nimis ,Udine.
Her and her husband house is right next to the church. With the cemertry at the rear of their houses. I first went there in 1981 and remember seeing many Benedetti graves
