GALEOTTO Family

Post by Zac110571 »

Hi, I am making a family tree via Ancestry website and cannot seem to find any records on My Grandmothers side of family.
She was a Galeotto and was born in Brendola,Vicenza,Veneto, Italy, and moved to UK in early 1940's. I know because of the war there may be little records left or unable to access.
I am not sure how this site works that much but how would I go about finding out more ? besides learning Italian and contacting existing family I know.
Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, Zac.

If you don't mind, what was your grandmother's first/given name? Do you know or can you estimate her year of birth?

Hi, Thanks. Her first name was 'Ines' and date of birth was 5 May 1924.
I think her arrival would have been about 1948 give or take a year or two.
I know her mother was called Linda and her father called Augustus I think.
Thanks for your time.
Zac.

You might be able to get some useful information here: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/reco ... sation.htm

Possibly some research guidance here: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/cata ... ID=243&j=1

I have found remarkably few records on the Galeotto surname; it is quite rare, even in modern Italy. Current Italian telephone listings: http://www.paginebianche.it/execute.cgi ... btt=1&om=0
