Molinaro from Salerno
Molinaro from Salerno
My Great grandmother, grandmother and great uncle came over to the US from Italy on 12/19/1892 from Naples. Their home town was listed as Salerno.
My Great grandmother was born in 1852 her name was listed on the manifest as Coglura Molinaro? Her daughter Angeline was born in 1882 and the son was born in 1889.
From what I was told my great grandfather was deceased and did not come over. I am just starting the quest to find my ancestors and any help or guidance would be much appreciated.

Hello and welcome to this forum. Those of us on this forum are volunteers but we will do our best to help you.
Re: Molinaro from Salerno
Could you tell us where in the U.S. your ancestors settled?
Re: Molinaro from Salerno
I suspect her first name was Calogera like Charlene or called Lena.
Re: Molinaro from Salerno
I see the original manifest and how they spelled her first name as you did. Anyway, it appears to me that she was joining her husband in the U.S., at least that is what the manifest leads me to believe.
Re: Molinaro from Salerno
They lived in Patterson, NJ and then moved to Philadelphia, PA. From what I am told my great grandfather had passed away before they came to the US in 1892.
My father said that she had two other brothers that did not come over. I don't know how that could be. He is 90 so his memory is not the greatest. He did say my Grandmothers brothers name was Vincent and he served in the Italian Army which is all I know.

Re: Molinaro from Salerno
I think the sons name was carmello from what I can read on the manifest.
My father does not know, he is 90 and his memory is shot. Looks like my grandmother may have passed away around 1984, she was born in 1882 which would have made her 102 at the time of passing in Philadelphia, PA.
Of course this is from my father so I could be wrong about the passing date.
My grandmother met my grandfather who was born in Philadelphia. His name is Howard Richard Miller and he came over to Ellis Island also. Just cannot find out from my father dates or birth, death, etc. I am still researching that from another source. He was german is all I know.
