Italian Brick wall!

Post by Frasenelli »

I recently emailed the anagrafe office in Pontremoli to try and find out my information of my husband's great great grandfather who was born on the town around 1837, his name was Giovanni Frassinelli.
The email that came back was that they had no records before 1850. :(

Does anyone know if there is anywhere else to try?
So frustrating!!

There may be military records for him in the Archivio di Stato Provinciale in MASSA CARRARA. PLEASE ADVISE IF YOU NEED ADDRESS.

Go to www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwisdom/saviello2.html and look under Conscription records and form letter to request his records, if any.

Church records may your last choice and go to www.parrocchie.it for PONTREMOLI. =Peter=

Indeed there are 34 parishes in Pontremoli, including the cathedral! Assuming all the priests in all of the parishes allow you to search on the off-chance through their baptismal records this will still be a tough job. That's assuming that baptismal records even go back that far.
