Hi everyone.. I am trying to find out some information and it does not seem that there is much information out there for anyone looking at Italian Genealogy.

I am wondering about Military records? Is there somewhere a person can look to do lookups?

I am also looking to find names,, is the best place to look on family search?

I am looking for information on Rosario D'Amico whom married a Maria Campanella.. in the Palermo area I believe.

Hope someone can help... ??? Thanks so much

The military records for Palermo area, are kept at Palermo State Archive
Palermo area is big, it has about 90 villages, so you should know the village before starting and the year of birth of Rosario and Maria

Its possible your family might be from the Monreale part of Palermo.

I found a Rosario D'amico born 1893 travelling to see a cousin called, Giuseppe Campanella in Caterine st. New York.
He was accompanied by a Felippo Ferrara, of also his cousin Giuseppe.
Felippo's wife was Francesca Palermi.

Rosario is down as single in 1921, and his father was called Serafino.

Ricbru.... Is Jato a part of Palermo? That is what all the documents say. that I have found so far.

I am in Canada, so going to the archive isnt going to work for me at all. LOL Is there a site or something of who to contact??

Did Italy not have census?? Thanks again ..

Jamie,, you have given me something! I am not sure,, Rosario going to see a Campanella,, and listed as a cousin? Rosario married Maria Camanella,, so I really hope they arent cousins, but who knows?

Can I ask where you found that? I would love to find more!!

Could the town have been San Giuseppe Jato, a comune in the Province of Palermo in Sicily?
