Thanks. I came up with 7 hits which come from Piove Di Sacco which is the actual town they came from so I suspect we are related. Trouble is they only have phone numbers. Is there a site like ancestry.co.uk only for Italy?

you know the probable birthyear of Luigi Eginardo?
from 1846 to 1902 it was only 1 Luigi Eginardo born in Padova province; born in Piove di Sacco:

EGINARDO Luigi born the 05/05/1862 PIOVE DI SACCO (Padova province)son of Isidoro

MY grandfather was born 23 May 1904 so it looks like maybe he was the grandson of the person you mention ?

My grandfather married Maria Ferrara though I am not sure what date. My 80 year old mother is still alive but she is hopeless with her family history.

by LDS microfilms you can search abt your Luigi Eginardo, knowing so the parent's names:
Registri dello stato civile di Piove di Sacco (Padova), 1871-1929 Piove di Sacco (Padova). Ufficio dello stato civile
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library ... ++di++Piov++
and if your Luigi married in or before of 1929 you can know also the marriage date...
as a well also Luigi siblings..

You can order microfilm copies of the vital records for the your ancestor's towns from your local family history center of the mormon church. Film is about $3.50 a roll.

The proper way of obtaining microfilm from a Family History Center
1. You go to www.familysearch.org

2. Click on the tab on the top right called Library

3. Click on the words Family History Library Catalog

4. Click on the words Place Search and type in the town you are looking for. Then click the word search.

5. A list of the results will show up. (an example: Piove di Sacco, Padova, Italy)

6. Click on the link you are looking for such a Piove di Sacco, Padova, Italy Vital Records. A new page will appear where it will show all the films for Vital Records

7. Click on the link you want such as Death Registries.

8. Click on View Film Notes and a list of the microfilm numbers will appear.

9. Click at the bottom of the page, For a printable copy, click hereand you will get a form to print out with all the film numbers.

10. Click print.

Ordering Microfilm

1. Now the FHC does not have all the microfilm in their possession.

2. You have to order the microfilm which takes 3-4 weeks for it to arrive.

3. It costs about $5.75 a roll for 30 days of viewing time.

4. If you need to renew the microfilm, it cost about $5.50 for another 60 days.

5. If you need to renew it after the 60 days, it will cost another $5.50 and the films can be kept on an indefinite bases.

6. Microfilm must be viewed at the FHC.

7. Copies are $0.35 a page.

As a matter of interest how did you find out about the Eginardo you mentioned above ?

EGINARDO Luigi born the 05/05/1862 PIOVE DI SACCO (Padova province)son of Isidor

Also for you reference the prices seemed to gone up substantially. The cost for short term (60 dyas) now is $12 and for indefinate use is $24. It costs more for England.

I was told that recently the ordering process has been changed so you have to it online. The URL for that is https://film.familysearch.org

Thanks for everyone's help. I eventually found a lead as through the Eginardo driving school in Piove di Sacco. I went to visit and found full histories of both my grandparents which was fascinating. Also met some wonderful relatives and it seems I am related to half of piove.
