ISO for my Italian GGrandfather (if he is in fact Italian)

Post by dcbennett73 »

I have hit a thick brick wall in determining my GGrandfathers origins. His death cert, 1920 census state he was born in Louisiana. I can find no trace of him in LA. Per my aunt, she said he was Italian. On his WW1 draft card he said he was a "naturalized citizen." But he is pretty much a ghost. He claims a birthdate of 25 March 1883 and died 8 Jul 1942. I took his SSN and tried to get a copy of his original application, to see if his real name and his parents name. They said that SSN did not exist. I am wondering if he was Sicilian and migrated to New Orleans since he claims to be born in Longwood, Louisiana? Any ideas?

Thanks
Dennis
