Valledlomo family Barone - Laduca

Post by rosebud1o10 »

I am looking for information on the Barone/Laduca families before 1901.

GG farther Filippo Barone abt 1863 married Antonina Laduca abt 1870.

Anything would be of great help.

Hi Rose! :-)

Welcome to the forum...

Can you tell us where the families lived in US? Do you have Census, ship manifest, naturalization records?

Were they born in Italy? Do you know where?

Information on other family members, siblings, children would be helpful.

POSSIBLE manifest for Antonina Laduca

These earlier manifests have very little information.
The date of this manifest is close to the date on the census (1892)

SS Entella, arriving NY, May 11 1891
Maria Antonia Laduca
Destination Buffalo, NY

Thank you for your help.

I have all the NY USA census 1900,1910,1920,1930 and some of the ship manifest, naturalization records.

The Filippo Barone family finally settled in Rochester NY. from 1910 to 1930. and are currently still in Rochester, NY

Joseph Barone is my Grandfather and all siblings were Born in NY on 1891. His children are:

Philip F Barone 1915-1980
Anna Barone 1917-2008
Sam Barone 1919-1983
Frank Barone 1919-? died but can not find death date
Joseph V Barone 1925-1998
Anthony Barone 1926-
Donald R Barone 1937-1991 My dad

From what I can tell, Filippo Barone was from Valledlomo Italy.

Can you tell me the American name for Crucifessa and Andrea?
The 1900 census show Andrea and Salvatore as twins - they are not

Andrea Born 1899
Salvatore Born 1902

Thank you for anything you can find. Let me know if you need anymore info. I hope to see my only living uncle Anthony this week and get more information.

Hi Rose :-)

If you are certain that Filippo Barone was born in Valledolmo, you can write for his birth record. If he was married to Antonina in Italy, there should be a notation for the date and place there.

Address:
Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Via Chiavetta
90029 Valledolmo (PA)
ITALY

Italian form letters at these sites:
http://www.circolocalabrese.org/resourc ... civile.asp

I don't know if you have already sent your letter but I too am researching Valledolmo and have found the information from the LDS site and requested films of the time period I needed. It might be faster than sending a letter to Italy.

familysearch.org
go to library, library catalog, place search, type in the town you want.
You can also see where the closest library is to view the films. A small fee to order them and then 30 days to view the films.
