Thank you Biff :D

I found these birth acts for Giambattista Summa and Domenica Maria Telesco's children:

Act Number 396 year 1890
Birth act for Maria Carmela Summa, born on 26 may 1890 daughter of Summa Giambattista, and Domenica Maria Telesco

Act Number 631 year 1891

Birth act for Vitantonio Summa still-born, born on 7 october 1891, son of Giambattista Summa and Domenica Maria Telesco

I need some time to search for Domenica Maria Summa because there is no year-index on the year you gave me... there are almost 260 pages to check 8O are you sure about her date of birth 4/4/1895?

Now I believe the arrival manifest for this family could have been this one:

http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0018

24 november 1899
Giovanni Somma, age 38, married, from Avigliano to Port Chester to join his brother in law Domenico Telesco, travelling with his wife Domenica , age 37, and daughters Maria age 6 and Proietta?? age 9 (possibly Maria Carmela?) and son Vito, just a few months...

Finally I found also Canio's wife (Domenica Maria Summa?) Birth act...

I believe that her first name wasn't Domenica Maria but Mariantonia Summa

Act Number 275 year 1893

Birth act for Mariantonia Summa, who was born in Avigliano on 16 april 1893, daughter of Giambattista Summa, age 32, farmer and of Domenica Maria Telesca, farmer.

birth act image here:
http://postimage.org/image/2lppt4ntw/

I think that at his arrival in the U.S. the name Domenica Maria was referred to Canio's mother (as his nearest relative in Italy) and not to his wife, he was a single at the time of his arrival...
So, the marriage date that maestra36 (Peg) found for you are correct... Canio and Mariantonia married in the U.S. on 1913:
maestra36 wrote:I think that Domenica was not married when she arrived in the U.S. and that she married Canio here. I found in the Westchester County NY archives marriage index, the following:

Vaccaro Canio certificate #13867 1913
Mary Summa certificate #13867 1913

I think that instead of being Domenica Maria, the bride's name could have been Maria Domenica and that is why her name is just Mary in the index

http://www.westchestergov.com/wcarchives/

there is also information on the website about how to order a record found in the index

I'm just reading over some of this and I have to wonder if we're related.

My great grandfather who was a Genovese listed 16 Beech as his destination in the Ellis Island records, to meet cousin Vito Pace. 30 Beech was listed on either his marriage licence or my grandfather's birth certificate, I'd have to double check. He later bought 37 Beech and that's probably where he was in 1920.

Now, my great grandmother was raised in a convent in Avigliano and later adopted by a Summa family. She was held at Ellis Island for a Donato and Gianbattista Summa - could the Donato part be wrong? Or a brother/cousin? There is an aunt listed in her EI docket but I can't make it out, a Caterina someone. If anyone has a means of getting adoption or convent records, please let me know.

I think my great grandfather's mother was a Telesca, again I have to check later tonight as there are so many relatives and it's hard to keep it all straight. I have ties to the Pace's as well, and other Summa's.

I have yet to find my great grandfather in the 1910 census, which bothers me because he arrived in 1906/1907 and should have been listed. I think that listing would show a lot of information as far as who he was living with and what the ties might be.

Montclaire.
On my Grandmother- Mariaotonia Summa ( we know her by Maria or Mary ) her parents were Giambasttista and Domenica Maria Telesco..or Terlesca
My great Grandfather Giabasttista Summa above - his mothers name was Domenica Pace.. I do remember the name of some of my cousins on the Telesco side with the Donato name. My Grandmothers youngest brothers wife is still with us..and sharp as a tack in her 90's and she would no better. I will try and have her reply on this..possibly she can verify..

BTW, if yu look at 37 Beech for the 1920 census, you'll see two Carlucci families staying with my great grandparents. No idea if there is any relation, but then again, we're all related the more you dig with this stuff.

JTV - it turns out that my great grandmother is indeed Vito's adoptive sister. I sent you a DM, we'll talk.
