census records

Post by princessbubbles_1 »

I have a question that i hope someone can help with, does anyone know why you wouldn't be able to find someone in census records even though you know they lived there? My ggGrandfather Vincenzo Bagatin(Bagattin) lived in halifax nova scotia everyone on here has been very helpful with my searches for him but i am still stuck. records for him seem to be very few. I wonder if he became a canadian citizan? if anyone could help it would be wonderful thanks so much.

I believe the correct spelling for the surname is bagattini. Found in the Meldola part of Italy. In the north where majority use le havre as departing port.
Here is a list of other surnames:

Biserni Campana Camporesi Camprini Cangini
Capanni Carli Cerotti Chiarucci Cicognani

Giardini Giorgini Gugnoni Lelli Leoni
Loli Lolli Lombardi Maltoni Marchi
Maroni Martini Menghini Mingozzi Montanari
Monti Morelli Nanni Neri Palotta
Pazzi Peschi Petrini Pistocchi Pozzi

No sorry i dont reconize any other names. I have a marriage record that vincenzo spells his name Vincenzo Bagatin but the name is spelled wrong on ship manifests they spell it Vincenso Bagattin. I know he came to canada as early as 1914 via ellis island.org. but can only find his marriage cert. for canadian records. he's not in any census records . I wonder why?

What year Canadian census were you looking for, I'm pretty sure they're avail from 1851 - 1911.

I guess they wouldn't have them available yet i'm pretty sure he wasn't here until 1914. would you know how to find out if there are records to find out if he ever became a canadian citizen?

Hi,

I can see you've got Stefani as a surname on that list, have you got any information on that surname?
