family Petta/Venditti

Post by mariotti »

Hi!
I'm searching information on my grandgrandfather.
He came in America two time the first in 1912, but on ellis island site I can't have any information about these passage. And a second time in the 1920 with the ship Re d'Italia. In this second travel he went to his uncle Giovanni Petta, 728 Main Street Bridgeport Connecticut.
My family and I want any information about this uncle and we want know the nephew, if they want.
My grandgrandfather and his uncle coming from Carpinone Campobasso, in the south of Italy.
Thank you

Yes he is my grandgrandfather, borned in 1894 and his wife is Annunziata Biondi.
And thank you for the other information about the travel in the 1923.
But now my question is this: how I can search information about the nephew of Giovanni Petta and the other friend in Canada?
You know I can do this?
Thank you very much

Il mio piacere aiutare.

www.ellisislandrecords.com is always one of the best sites to research from..

If you can mention brothers or sisters of Angelo we can research further.

Angelo è andato all'Italia dopo che lavorasse? Ha lavorato nelle miniere?

Saluti,

we don't have any notice about our parents in US or Canada. I know that sometimes in the past, 60's, my grandmother, the son of Angelo Venditti, received some money from the "uncle of america".
But now my grandmother is died and her brother and sister are too young to remember this year. Unfortunately my grandgrandfather died too young and I think after the 1923 he didn't return in US, because they don't have money.
Now my question is only if you know where I can search the nephews. Yesterday I remember the existence of the Italian Comites, I think they have the register of the Italian descendent. Now I can write him and I can ask information if it is possible.
Thank you

Angelo Venditti died in Italy? What year? Also the "Uncle of America" was Giovanni Petta, or a brother of Angelo?

I will see it I can find a census record for Giovanni Petta and more.

Yes Angelo died in Italy, in Carpinone, in the 1930.
My grandmother says me that in America Angelo had a brother in law, Antonio Venditti. But no one remember how many year have Antonio when he go in Us. And no one remember who is the "uncle of America".
the only information I had is the name of Giovanni Petta, for the second travel to America, and the name of Sergio Valente, for the third travel in 1923.
THANK YOU for you Help

There is more to research... :) but for now here is something of interest. Do you see any more Paesano names on this manifest? Many from Campobasso area.

In 1920, Angelo arrived in October....

This family below arrived in December... going to North Bay Ontario

But they all have something in common ..... Carpinone, Ontario, Canada (Toronto and Sault Ste. Marie)... and the name VALENTE...

This could not be the Giovanni Petta he went to in America in October 1920... could be a cousin...

Name:   Giovanni Petta - mother in Italy is Maria Pizutti

Wife who is on ship record is Loretana Asenze Valente age 26 - father in Italy is Nicola Valente

Also travels with daughter Antonietta age 5
Arrival Date:   10 Dec 1920
Age:   26 years
Estimated Birth Year:   1894
Gender:   Male
Ethnic Background:   Italian
Port of Departure:   Genoa and Naples, Italy
Ship Name:   Canopic
Port of Arrival:   Boston, Massachusetts
Friend's Name:   Michele Petta
Last Residence:   Italy
Birthplace:   C' p' b' so, Italy
Microfilm Roll Number:   257

hi!
I don't undestand if Antonietta, the 5years' old daughter is the daughter of Valente or the Angelo's daughter. Because, my grandmother Antonietta , the Angelo's daughter, was born in 1918 not in 1915.
thank you for the information, now I write to my uncle and I ask other to him
