Searching for relatives in Baia Latina Province Caserta

Post by JKing »

I am searching for my relatives and any information on my grandmother and her 3 sisters. Her and one of her sisters emmigrated to the US in 1910. 2 sisters remained. I would like to find their family information. Where do I go about searching? Is there an office in Baia Latina that would have such records?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the forum-

ancestry.com (which you need a paid subscription for) has records for the town online under the following database:

Caserta, Campania, Italy, Civil Registration Records, 1862-1939
Caserta, Campania, Italia: Registri di stato civile, 1862-1939

If you don't have a subscription and could provide some details about your ancestors, even estimated years of birth, someone on the forum might be able to locate some records for you from that website.

I just joined Ancestry.com but I thought you had to have a different subscription to foreign countries. I will go search that right now. Thanks.

I have birthdays for the sisters
Antonetta Monaco November 21, 1893
Anastasia Monaco June 26, 1892
They emmigrated in 1910 and 2 sisters remained there. One of the sisters was Maria.

Thanks.

OMG, that could very well be her sister. I'm thinking it could be Maria Alexandria...her sister's name was Maria. I'm going to print that out. I have one question...HOW DID YOU FIND THAT? I don't even know how to get to the caserta information. I'm new to the ancestry site and have no idea how to work it

THANK YOU!!!!!

Joanna I went through 1886-1893 every last page had a index of the year of all the nascite's (births) last name first also tryed the months you wrote down
Antonetta Monaco November 21,1893
Anastasia Monaco June 26, 1892
and they didnt come up which means they could have a different birthdate which is not out of the ordinary looking at records in my experience the italian records are more acurate than our records
here is some reading info on reading italian records click on the prompt

I have my grandmother's birthday but I don't remember where I got her sister's. I think her daughter gave me the date of birth. I did see on a census that my grandmother came over in 1910. Other than that, it's all i got.

Where did your grandmother and sister live in the states? What was her married name that way I can trace back from that info.

well, there's a problem, I don't really know how to spell my grandfather's name. He spelled it 1,000 different ways. It could be Antonoinetta Vallarine/Vallariano, Vallerine or Vallarione. Her sister married a Martinelli. They both lived in RI.

I appreciate it!

It may be just a co-incidence, but on the 1920 US Census, a few families below the "Vallarine" family there is a family named "Monaco" who arrived about the same time...
Did Antoinetta have a brother/uncle/cousin in US?

Found a manifest for Anastasia del Monaco, arriving Providence RI, May 1913...
Leaving mother Teresa in Baia Latina, going to uncle Benedetto del Monaco in Providence... (This is the same first name as the head of the family Monaco on the 1920 Census below the Vallarine family) :-)

Anastasia is listed as 20/21 years old making her birthdate about 1892/3.
Her place of birth is given as Teano.

With the above information, you may want to try checking birth records for the name "del Monaco" :-)

AND the possibility that the girls were born in Teano, but last place of residence was Baia Latina...
