Surname Medici from Siracusa Sicilia

Trying to find info of my grandfather Carmelo Medici and his family. Living in Addis Ababa, being a newbie I don't know how to go..
He was born 1910 in Siracusa.

Your grandfather, Carmelo Medici was born in 1910 in Siracusa. Do you mean the town or the province? All records in Italy are in the town of origin.

The LDS site place search reveals Addis Ababa is in Ethiopia. Did your grandfather end up in Addis Ababa?

Sorry I haven't answered before, but I have now been able to find some more information on my grandfather. He is born April 25 1910, in the town Ispica in the Ragusa province. Not Siracusa! I have no information currently on where he died. I am searching further.

I have tried to find the office which register births etc in Ispica, but so far I have not suceeded.

Can you help with some advise where to search?

This subject is hereby closed. I continue on the subject "Surname Medici born in Ispica, province of Ragusa", as I have new information that my grandfather was not born in Siracusa, but in Ispica which belongs to the Ragusa province. Still in Sicilly though.

Dear Lucia,

Ricbru gave you great information in which you are going to have to try first. There is microfilmthat you can rent and order from the Family History Center for the town of Ispica but it goes up to 1899 for Civil Records. Therefore you would need his Birth Act in order to find out who his parents are.

The link below is the microfilm numbers. It usually costs $3.50 to order and rent the film. But I would write the letter first for the Birth Act.
