Sections of Palermo

Post by sams »

I am new to the forum and this is my first post. Please excuse me if I failed to do something correctly.

My questions concerns the different sections of Palermo that I see when trying to located a particular microfilm. What I see is Sezione Santa Christina, Sezione di Santa Nifa, Santa Oliva, Zisa, etc. Can someone explain these different sections of Palermo? Is there a map somewhere indicating these sections?. Thanks in advance for any help.

Buon Anno...2016 :)

Sorry to gatecrash this thread, but I am looking for more information regarding a wedding in Uditore Palermo, but looking into the specific records for familyhistory.org, there is no mention whatsoever of Uditore as a section in Palermo, but on Ancestry it is listed as the place of marriage. Google search mentions a park in Palermo, amongst other things. Can anyone tell me if it is part of a larger area? or been renamed.
Rosaria Caruso married Giuseppe Caruso on 18 June 1891 in Uditore Palermo. Father Antonino Caruso and mother Margherita La Barbera.
Any information on Uditore would be appreciated.

The list of "sections" of Palermo contains errors that have been propagated by repeated use. They include:

ALTRARELLA is NOT a section of Palermo. It is ALTARELLO (one "R") and is considered a "quartiere" or "quarter" of Palermo.

PROIEZIONE is NOT a section of Palermo or any physical place. The word means "abandonment" and refers to records dealing with foundlings (abandoned children).
