Success obtaining Italian ancestors' docs

Post by caridimondo »

Two weeks ago I sent a fax requesting my great grandparents' birth and marriage certificates (estratti) from the commune of Campli in Abruzzo and received the documents today! I was really surprised how fast they came and free of charge. I used the templates posted by other members to write the letters and decided to fax them instead of snail mail, so I suggest anyone else who needs their ancestors' documents to do the same.

A big thanks to those who posted the letter templates, this forum has been a huge help in the process so far! One year to go...

Thank you! I just hope the spelling of names match up on my GGP's naturalization and death records. I have plenty of time to amend if necessary.
