this may be hopeless... [Caputo]

Post by rmc17 »

I'm trying to put together a family tree, but having a hard time with grandfather's side of the family. I have very little to go on, but I figured I'll put it out there and see if anyone has any thoughts...

Michael __________ Caputo
Born in Italy, had at least one sibling, brother Marco; immigrated to NYC; no idea on years
Married to Giustina Ludovico (early 1900s - 2003ish?....she died at 97), don't know the year or location
Three children, Carol, Cathy and Vito Michael (1941 - 1998)
Lived in Bricktown, NJ after retirement, but I believe lived in the city or north Jersey prior. Giustina immigrated to Harlem in 1921.
Died sometime in 1980s in Brick, NJ

That's all I've got. Thought maybe the spouse info might help backtrack to him. I appreciate any info or suggestions you have.
Thanks, all!

i'm guessing that you probably already seen this manifest for giustina ludovico for 1921? would this be your ancestor? do you know the year when michael or marco was born?

Would this be Michael's family? I see a Marco as a sibling. Vito is listed as the father and Caroline is listed as the mother.

Your best real option here may be to wait until next April when the 1940 census is released.

With one of the children (Vito) born in 1941, there is a high likelyhood that the others were born (and the marriage took place) after 1930. Once found, the census will give you more info concerning the naturalization status and immigration dates, and you can proceed from there.
