I have the original copy of my GGF's Certificate of Citizenship. He was born in Italy, moved to the US in the 1910s, and received this document in 1930.
I had assumed that this certificate was just another name for the Certificate of Naturalization, but now that I've done more research, I am becoming uncertain. Is there a difference, and if so, what is it?

The "Certificate of Citizenship" was the final result of the naturalization process.
In the past, the NYC consulate would accept an original certificate of citizenship in lieu of all other naturalization documents; after ascertaining the authenticity of the certificate, they took a photocopy and returned the original to the applicant.
I assume this is still the case.
