sequenza family

Looking for information on family history, can only go back to grandfather Polonice Sequenza who studied art in Florence and Milan and has some contact with Poggibonsi. Any assistance as to who his parents are and from where would be desired. Possibly left Florence when the typhoid epedemic struck in the 1800's

The surname Sequenza is today very rare in Italy (only 27 in the telelphon directories), and apparently from either Puglia (Barletta) or Sardinia (Cagliari or Sassari). Any hint?
The name Polonice does not exist (couldn't find a single occurrence). It's possibly a mispelling but I'm at a loss to understand what is the original one. Could it be a double name Paolo something?

Currently in Toscana region( Firenze capital) are some Sequenza living in Empoli especially, very near Poggibonsi and Firenze.... also exist Sequenzia surname.... the first name can be Polinice .......... in Australia was emigrated some Sequenzia(no Sequenza) but nobody Polinice first name....

but in the 1871 seems an record little interesting

Hi Michael,
thanks to suanj I agree that the first name is Polinice and that's interesting because today there are only 3 persons with that first name (http://elenco.libero.it/elencotel/publi ... onimie.jsp) and all of them in the province of Terni (cities of Terni, Acquasparta and Stroncone). Probably it comes from a local saint or church. It's really a very long shot but you could try and send three requests for a birth certificate of Polinice Sequenza born in the year .... (approx ...) and see what happens!

Still looking for any information on Grandfather (Polinice Sequenza) born 1878 in Poggibonci. We can trace history of traveling to Milan,South America and ending up in London. But do not have information on his parents or family in Italy. Have large silver medallion issued in 1896-97 with these words around name SCUOLA PROFESSIONALE DELLE ARTI DECORATIVE FIRENZE which we believe was given as appreciation of artistic ability by art school in Florence. Any help would be much appreciated by the family here in the UK / Australia / Indonesia
