Finding my Family

Post by stephi419 »

Hello,
I will be visiting Palermo Italy in January and I am looking for relatives. My Italian Sicilian Grandmother's name who I have lived with my whole life is Lucille Tola. Her father was Francesco Tola and her mother's maiden name was Loboria Zoda. Lucille's Gradmother's name was Lucia La Uricella. They all lived in Partinico Palermo. Can someone help me find anything about my relatives. I know all of these people are deceased now, but I am hoping that I can find their kids or their kids, kids. Can you help. I will be visiting between Jan 3, 2012 and January 13, 2012

Hello and Welcome :-)

There are currently 23 listings in the Italian Phone book in Partinico (PA) for TOLA...
http://www.paginebianche.it/ricerca?qs= ... o+%28PA%29

And 6 listings for ZODA...
http://www.paginebianche.it/ricerca?qs= ... =Partinico

Don't know if you have enough time to write and get a response, but maybe you can write someone (or more) to tell them of your search for family.
Help with letters in Italian to potential relatives:

Good luck!

Is it possible to get their email addresses? That would make it much quicker. I am not sure what the posting on FB is about. Can you tell me what that does if it is on my wall?
Thanks for your help

I would have no idea how to get people's email addresses... HOWEVER :-)
You might try sending an email to the town's official email address and make your inquiry.
Find it at this site:

As for your reference to FB... don't know what you mean. I have posted links to the Italian Phone book listings, and a link to help with letters in Italian to potential relatives. Not understanding your reference to Facebook :-(

Welcome If your sure they are from Partinico Palermo you have names and maiden name so your best bet is to go to the Family History Library near your home and get films of records of Partinico Palermo which they have Partinico (Palermo), 1820-1901 Births, marriages, deaths, banns; supplements to births, marriages, deaths, and miscellaneous documents from the civil registration office in Partinico, Palermo, Italy. Text in Italian.(FHL)
Also there are church records 1611-1911 Chiesa cattolica. Maria Santissima Annunziata (Partinico, Palermo)
click on prompts for info

I would start from your grandparents and work your way back through the records. Women use there maiden names in records in Italy so you will be able to get lots of info from the records. If you have problems translating the records you can always post them on here for help there are great and kind people on here to help.
Good Luck and Great Rearching

If you are going in January you won't have time to order and search the films unless you live in Utah. Sometimes an email address is listed in the phone book www.paginebianche.it
I suggest you go to mass and talk to the priest afterwards. He may be able to direct you.
