Passport & hoping to get a lead

Post by MCKay »

I have this passport for my great grandmother. I'm not sure where she was born exactly but I'm hoping that this might help me sort some of that out. Could anyone tell me what it says because it's super difficult to read.

Oh yeah, my great grandmother is listed as Lena off to the side.

A larger image would certainly help...

The upper left part is a phisical description of the Passport holder:
height 155 cm, aged 35, blue eyes black hair...
The upper right part states that tyhe passport was issued to travel to New York, is valid for 3 years and was issued in Cefalù 7 August 1903
The lower part lists four children that are traveling with the passport holder:
Tagliarini Antonino, Tagliarini Alessandro, Tagliarini Giuseppe and Tagliarini Damiana, all born in Petralia Soprana, the birth dates are difficult to read...

Can't see anywhere the name Lena!

Thank You! Lena is written at an angle off to the left of Antonino I'm guessing.

Are you sure the name isn't Antonina? That's what I've always thought it was but I could have been mistaken.

Yes, I read "Antonina" "figlia".
And the second doesn't seem to me to be "Alessandro"...maybe "Fernando"?
Birth dates (just as I can read them...)
June 25 1894 (?) Antonina
May 25, 189x Alessandro/Fernando or whoever he is
December 30th, 1899 Giuseppe
May 15th, 1902 (?)Damiana
But I suppose you can read dates from the original better than I do.

Does it say anything about where they were from or where they were born at all?

it looks like the site that I used to upload it sized it down a bit. Let me see if I can fix this.

That recap was for some reason exactly what I needed. Thank you! It's strange that everything that I'm learning about my family is new information in the sense that my great grandmother and grandfather told people that they were born in places they were in fact not born. It's very strange and has made my search all the more difficult, yet interesting.
