Origin of my family name

Post by Mardi »

I have been wondering about the origin of my Family name Calamusa.
Also, the meaning of Calamusa.

They originated from Calatafimi, Province of Trapani, Sicily. Family moved to Corleone, Province of Palermo, Sicily, where some of their children were born. Are there still any of them living in these Province's?

Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you Tessa for the web-sites....
Thank you suanj ..... lots of pages, if only I could read Italian. Have a cousins that does, will forward it to him.

We all wonder why there are not many Calamusa's around it Italy. A family member said, All the Calamusa's left Italy/Sicily all about the same time. That could be so true, because I have found them in many other states. Thank you both again for taking time to send me information.
