learning sicilian
Hi, I'm new to this site and was hoping someone out there could help me out. I am Sicilian but as I got older and the elders started to pass away they took the language with them. I am 45 and starting a family later than most; I have a beautiful 21month old boy and I am desperate to teach him MY language - NOT Italian. I have made an exhaustive search and Italian classes, books, dvds etc. are everywhere, but that is simply not what was spoken in our family. What I remember is fragmented pieces, ramdom words and expressions. It is my hope that someone will be able to offer me some resources to fill in all the gaps - classes, books that give the proper pronunciation, or a dvd? So that I will be able to pass this beautiful launguage on to the next generation. I did find a class that teaches Sicilian in N.Y. but I am from M.A. thanks for your help!
