Surname Pulso

Post by Barbswf »

I am looking up information for a friend whose grandfather was from Sicily. I have found 4 people with the surname Pulso in the Abruzzo region in the province of Chieti. I have sent an email to Chieti but have had no reply as of yet. I also found 2 people with this surname in the Lazio region in the province of Roma. My friend will be traveling to Italy this coming September and would like to contact any relatives she may still have there.

My question is, is there a place where I can find out information such as addresses or telephone numbers for these two areas, so that she perhaps could contact them and find out if by chance they are related ??

I would really appreciate any help offered. Thanking you in advance for your time and consideration.

Hi,
I believe that for to find the right Pulso family, it could be very helpful to know the name of your friend grandfather... and so, finding the arrival, it is possible to know where he was born...
just my suggestion....

suanj

Hi Suanj:

My friend only knows that her grandfather's name is Lou Pulso and that he was perhaps born in Sicily. She says he was a boxer in the 1920's. She isn't for sure on the birthplace. She doesn't know when he came to the USA. I have a feeling his name isn't just Lou, perhaps Louis. I do know his wife's name and did find when and where she arrived in the USA at the age of 14.

So, I am just sort of floundering around trying to find some leads. Trying to follow the trail backwards to perhaps get lucky.

Thank you, I appreciate your help.

Hi T & Suanj:

The grandmother's name was Nelltje Rip. My friend had the last name as Von Rip but I had no luck with that and something in the back of my mind without looking anything up, was that Von meant "the". I found her coming to the USA on the 25th of March,1921, with her father, mother and a brother and 2 sisters and what I think is a sister to the mother, since she was quite a few years older than the other girls. The ship sailed from Rotterdam and was the SS Rotterdam. This family went to New York. My friend doesn't know if her grandfather met Nelltje in New York or Salt Lake City. She also thought perhaps they met on the ship, but I doubt that as Nelltje was only 14 at the time.

I also have a feeling the last name is perhaps spelled differently than what my friend gave me..Pulso. I have seen Puleso, Pulseo, etc. I haven't had much luck with just Pulso.

I think perhaps Nelltje and Lou lived in New York for a time. My friend says her father, Frank Jerrit Pulso, was born in Los Angeles, California and that he was an only child. I haven't so far found any information on him. He was also adopted by a step father,Al Casey, when I don't know , but his Social Security death notice is under F.J. Casey.

I don't mean to be so long winded with this, I hope you both understand.

I thank you so very much for the help.
