Taormina, Sicily

Post by Villa Flora »

I am hoping to trace my husband's family tree. His surname is Fama. Sometimes the family name has been recorded as Fama-Lombardo. He was born in Taormina, Sicily in 1939. Can anyone point me to a website that deals with Sicilian ancestry please? 8)

Welcome :-)

Here is a link to a free site http://www.familysearch.org - and specifically the Taormina civil registrations from 1866 -1910
Though your husband's birth record will not be there, it is possible you may find the birth records of his parents if you know the approx. date of birth, and if they were also born in Taormina :-)

https://familysearch.org/search/image/i ... %3D1887904

For example, at the end of 1909 records there are 3 FAMA listed
I don't know if any of them are related to you husband...

#79 Giambattista Fama
Born 18 June 1909, presented to the official at the town hall on 19th.
Father: Dottor(Doctor) Francesco Fama, age 33
Mother: Francesca Margherita Floressa, his wife
There is a notation on the left indicating his marriage to Serafina in October 1934

ANd #78 - Francesco Giuseppe Fama (The twin of Giambattista above)
Francesco was born without life (senza vita)
