How to find certificates if unsure of town

Post by pellmell »

Hello,

I have researched on my family, via family lore and Ancestry.com, and Illinois certificates. I have the U.S. certificates I need, but am looking for my great-grandfather and great-grandmother's birth certificates, and their marriage certificates, which were in Italy. We have no idea where in Italy they were married. I have their death certificates, and my parent's certificates, immigration records, and the naval passages, and there are no conclusive answers as to their birth towns and where they got married.

I think I would look first for my g grandfather's birth in Avigliana. Is there a town hall or church that I can write to or email? Then for my g grand-mother, is there a town hall or church for Calscibetta or Bari?

We know: great grand-father Battista Pellico
in Avigliana or Avigliano (my guess is the former, since family always said he came from the North.)
Parents: Pietro Pellico and Anna Maria? unknown last name

great grand-mother Carmella Christiana
in Calscibetta or Caltansett? Family always said Bari, but not found.
Parents: Antonio Christiana and Margaret Tomasoello?

Thank you
