Patroni - Bassanelli - Sernio, Italy

Post by maxined »

Hello, I'm new to this site and hope someone can assist in my search for information about the Bassanelli and Patroni families from Sernio Italy who emigrated to the Australian goldfields in the early 1900s.

My grandparents, Bonaventura Patroni and Bernadina Bassanelli were from the area and may still have relatives living in Italy. Bonaventura had a brother Cosmo and a sister Maria. Bernadina was one of four children, the other three being Maria, Anna and Joseph.

Look forward to hearing of anything useful

Since you know the town SERNIO (Sondrio province) and since SERNIO records exist for all BMD's from 1866 to 1929 on microfilm at your nearest Mormon Family History Library(www.familysearch.org) where you can rent the film (obtain companion book Discovering your italian ancestors by Lynn Nelson to interpret documents) OR
You can go to www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwisdom/saviello2.html on Italian records so that you can request documents from SERNIO freeof charge.

Go to www.tuttitalia.it/lombardia/92-sernio and scroll down to MUNICIPIO for the address to send italian language form letters to UFFICIO DI STATO CIVILE . The normal wait time is from 4-8 weeks and is free of charge. To the right of this website is the tourist info on Sernio. Any questions? get right bac k to us. =Peter=

In the doubt you don't have checked it I'd advice you to try this freee site for Australia:

http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/record ... index.aspx

You'll find for example the images of Bonaventura Patroni's naturalization papers.... from these document it seems his father's name was Domenico.

My name is Jennifer Patroni. I have 3 generations of Patroni's located here in Pensacola Florida. Do know that some of my ancestors are from Italy also. Was wondering if you might be related.

Hi Maxined
I went to mums house yesterday & took another look at the paperwork she got from my grandma
I was wrong
My GG Grandmother was indeed Bernadina Bassanelli
My grandmother Marie is the daughter of Ida Patroni
Very exciting
So I think you must be my grandmas cousin?

Hi Katemaree

That's correct, Marie is my 1st cousin and Ida my aunty. Ida had two brothers and my father Amilcare Domenico Patroni- known as "Macca" was one of them.
