grandfather's family still living in Lucca

Post by lizboyd »

I am trying to find out if we still have relatives living in Lucca or the surrounding area. My grandfather, Emilio Federighi, immigrated to the U.S. in the early 1900's and eventually landed up in Prescott, Arizona. I believe his father's name was Giussepe and his mother's Dozzolina. He had three sisters, one of whom died at a young age. One of the surviving sisters married her sister's widower, who I believed had one or two children. The Federighis had olive groves which I'm told were wiped by a blight. I believe that the last name of our relatives currently living in Lucca might be Ambrosini. My mother tells me that one of our cousins worked for a large bank - perhaps Bank of America. My grandmother, Erminia who was from Lugano, Switzerland, died in 2005, and with her much of the family information. I would truly appreciate any information someone might have.

Thank you,
Liz Boyd

Hey Liz,
Welcome to the Forum!
We would all be happy to help.

Do you know if your grandfather was from the comune (town) Lucca or the province of Lucca?

Have you found all of your family's US records (immigration, census, military, etc)?

Thank You, Valarie

Hi Liz :-)

There are currently 12 listings for the surname FEDERIGHI in the Italian Phone book for Lucca and the surrounding area.
http://www.paginebianche.it/ricerca?qs= ... i&dv=lucca

And two listings for AMBROSINI in Lucca :-)
http://www.paginebianche.it/ricerca?qs= ... i&dv=Lucca

Should you wish to write to one or more of these "potential" relatives...

About the SS Application:

Thank you so much to everyone! The records you found are definitely those of my grandfather. Since I am new to this group, I'm still learning to navigate the posts. It is very exciting to learn more about my grandfather's family. I will follow up to see if the Federighis in Lucca are related to my grandfather.

Again, thank you!
