Hi!

FamilySearch (free) has civil records for the comune of Catania, province of Catania online (non-indexed, in Italian)

"Italy, Catania, Catania, Civil Registration (Comune), 1820-1905"
https://www.familysearch.org/search/col ... on/1912932

these may help:

I couldn't find any Baccella or Baccellia in the 1846-1855 index for Catania. Are you sure he was born in the town of Catania, or was he born in some village/town in the province of Catania?

I went on ancestry.com and found he migrated to New York in april 30 1875 from Liverpool. The document indicated his origin is Italy. My family in the States believes he was from catania. I'm not sure.

Do have a death record with his town of birth on it?

Do you have a subscription to ancestry?
I would contact the owner of the family pages and find out where she got his birth date and location?
It could save you a lot of time

We're happy to help!
---

Go to your local library's webpage (type the library name in google  )
Most have a section for genealogy or for available databases
See if ancestry is listed
---

If it isn't call your local Family History Center - they should also have ancestry

FamilySearch Centers Home Page
Includes how to find your nearest local Family History Center
https://www.familysearch.org/locations
---

Ancestry also offers a free trial (with a credit card) it's a great way to get started, just remember to cancel!
---

Contacting an ancestry. com member is pretty easy
the owner is listed on their Family Pages
from their family pages you should be able to click on their name and follow the prompts to 'contact member'

OR

from ancestry main page:

go to the 'Collaborate' drop down menu
go to 'Member Directory'
click the 'Basic Information' tab
type 'michelle2colby; in the User Name

a blank message will pop up for you to send to michelle2colby
be sure to include your email address in your message
