Looking for Ignazia Ippolito

Post by cocris2006 »

I am on a quest to trace may Sicilian heratage after a recent visit to Sicily. I have had some success thus far. I have been able to find my great Grandfathers imigration papers online and have requested his military papers from Sicily. I was also able to find his sisters papers, and his brother in-law's imigration papers. (His sister married his wife's brother, and they both came over as a married couple in 1913). The problem is that i can not find anything on my great grandmother. She was born 6/13/1886, i believe she if from the same town as my great grandfather, (collesano), My great grandfather came over in 1906 as single man, there first child was born in 1910. So she had to come over before 1910.

i have her madien name as Ignazia Ippolito or Agnes Ippolito, Her married name Ignazia Quattrochi.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Suanj, that can't be them, I found their brother and sister on ellis island ( Antonio ippolito, and agnes quattrocci) they came over in 1913 from Palermo. It wouldnt make sense for my great grand parents to sail from Napoli 3 years earlier. I also found a solanio quattrocchi ( but when you look at the orginal, it's laborio, on Ellis island) he came from Palermo in 1906.

abt Liborio Quattrocchi and Ignazia Polito trip of 1910; on the second page of ship's manifest, Liborio line 9, was already in USA from 1907 to 1908...
when you say "solanio quattrocchi" you referring abt this ship's manifest:

First Name: Silario
Last Name: Quattrocchi
Ethnicity: Italy, Italian South
Last Place of Residence: Collesano
Date of Arrival: Jul 12, 1906
Age at Arrival: 20y Gender: M Marital Status: S
Ship of Travel: Sannio
Port of Departure: Palermo
Manifest Line Number: 0016
and reading the original, the first name is Liborio...
http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0016

Liborio Quattrocchi was born on 11 Nov 1886 in Collesano:
Quattrocchi
Name: Liborio Quattrocchi
City: Manhattan
County: New York
State: New York
Birthplace: Italy

Birth Date: 11 Nov 1886
Race: White
Draft Board: 92
born in Collesano, Ignazia wife..

if you read the marriage record abt Liborio Quattrocchi and Ignazia Polito,

Liborio parents was: Antonino Quattrocchi and Rosa Culotta

Ignazia parents was: Antonino Polito and Maria Concetta Galluzzo
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/T ... 1243096495

well Liborio Quattrocchi birth act he was born in Collesano on 11 Nov. 1886 son of Antonino Quattrocchi and Rosa Culotta( Antonino and Rosa was no married but recognized the child)
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/T ... :647392561

well this same Liborio Quattrocchi married at Ignazia Polito ( birth date: Collesano 14 June 1886) in Collesano on 29 Jan 1910 and both immigrated in USA on Mar 27, 1910.. this trip was the second trip for Liborio..

So ..I believe that they are the right persons...

suanj,
the only problem I have is Ignazia's last name. We know that Ignazia had a brother, Antonio and he married, Liborio's Sister, Agnes Quattrocchi. I found both of them on the below manifest. It clearly has his last name as Ipollito.
http://www.ellisisland.org/search/viewT ... 0663030020

thank you for you help.

yes I understand.. both the surnames are in Collesano: Polito and Ippolito..
by the ship's manifest of Antonino Ippolito and Angela (no Agnes) Quattrocchi, both was born in 1889..
I found the her death:
NAME: Angela Ippolito
BIRTH: 11 Sep 1889
DEATH: Jan 1972 - Brooklyn, Kings, New York, USA
CIVIL: New York

and her birth act: born in Collesano on 11 Sep 1889 daughter of Antonino Quattrocchi and Rosa Culotta... so hshe was the sister of Liborio.. sure..
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/T ... :647392561

I know not the birth date of Antonino Ippolito but I found a brother of Ignazia Polito : Antonino Polito born on 29 Aug 1889, son of Antonino and Maria Concetta Galluzzo. same parent's of Ignazia Polito!
birth act:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/T ... :647392561

you know the birthdate of Antonino Ippolito husband of Angela Quattrocchi?

I found the petition of naturalization :
Selected U.S. Naturalization Records - Original Documents, 1790-1974 about Antonino Ippolito
Name: Antonino Ippolito
Age: 36
Birth Date: 29 Aug 1889
Spouse's Name: Angelina
Arrival Date: 1913

Naturalization Date: 7 May 1926
State: New York
Court Type: District Court
Court Location: Eastern District, New York
Naturalization Record Type: Petition for Naturalization

by petition of naturalization:
departure 30 may 1913 on the ship VERONA; arrival 15 jun 1913 VERONA ship...

by the ship's manifest that you provided:
the arrival was Jun 13, 1913, VERONA ship and the departure from Palermo the 30 May 1913

so he travelled by Ippolito surname...

no doubt that at same birthdate just Antonino Polito was born in Collesano and no a Antonino Ippolito;
as a well at the birthdate that you provide abt Ignazia, just Ignazia Polito was born in Collesano; Antonino and Ignazia Polito was sibling, as a well Liborio and Angela Quattrocchi was sibling..

for to know the other children of Antonino Quattrocchi .. it should do a deep search, abt all Quattrocchis and Politos born in Collesano and to check the parent's names... it is a bit hard and long search..
here the link of Collesano civil records... https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/T ... %3D1947613
