BONAT(T)Os in Brazil

Post by abonatto »

Dear members,

With the intentions of knowing my own history and obtaining Italian citzenship, I am looking for the birth record of Vi(c)torio Bonat(t)o, married with Eurosia Carlesso, and son of Antonio Bonat(t)o and Luiza Caizolati. I believe he was born around 1867. I have no ideia about how to discover from where in Italy he came... Please give me some guidelines if possible.

Thanks in advance.

P.S.: I use parentesis to indicate that both ways are possible and I do not know which one is right (example: Bonatto or Bonato). I am not 100% about the way to write Carlesso and Caizolati)

Thank you for the lightning-fast answer! About Caizolati, you are right: it is Cazzolato. About the place, there is a "rumor" that it should be Padova / Veneto (now your 99% sure gave me confidence about it :-)

Even if their sons get merried here in Brazil, will the "processo para casamento" have the birthplace?

Regards. Alexandre Bonatto

Alexandre, the reply isYES; but please to understnd very well: NO certificate of marriage of some son or daughter, but YES processo para casamento that are all documents for the just wedding, and normally , in Brazil, are in Municipio archive... the processo para casamento was in Brasil from abt 1890, so sure some son/daughter it married after this year... in the processo are the italian birthplace.. but I've some doub about Padova... it is most probable Treviso area.
Best regards, suanj

Could Vicenzo be their birthplace? I heard some speculations about it...

Thanks again :-)

Vicenza...- oh yes, all is possible, but i want say you that the Cazzolato surname is very rare and present in Treviso area, but also is possible that in the past was also in Padova or Vicenza areas... suanj
