I know that my grand father's name was antonio chelli he had 2 brothers: ugo, paolo-ovidio and two sisters, norma and adele.Country of origin San demetrio ne' vestini-L'Aquila Italy, arrived in west virginia in 1906. What a cool discovery. Now I really wish I spoke & wrote in Italian. I used Google translator to at least get the gist. It appears I am your fourth cousin. Making my father your third cousin, and my grandfather & great-aunt your second cousin. I didn't know I had any relatives still living in Italy.

Did Antonio go back to Italy? I honestly do know much about the Chelli family. I just recently confirmed a few years ago that Paul-Ovidio Chelli was my great grandfather. I know just about as much as you wrote in your opening paragraph (Two brothers, living in West Virginia, etc).

Neat to know there are Chelli relatives living in Italy.

Hello my name is Maurie D'Andrea.I am 53 years of age and live in Newcastle Australia.
My mother's maiden name is Assunta Chelli. She was born in November 1938 in Prata D'Ansidonio ( Abbruzzo)Italy.
Her Father's name was Fiore Chelli
Her grandfather's name was Filippo Chelli and her great-grandfather's name was Sabatino Chelli . They all lived and died in Prata D'Ansidonio.
I have an uncle that lives here in Australia. His name is Filippo Chelli as well.
I have access to an even larger family tree that my Italian cousin emailed me a number of years ago . I hope this information can assist. I am certain that there is a family connection that goes back many years.

There were and are a lot of Chelli from Abruzzi, especially a town called Poggio Picenze near L' Aquila. I have been there a couple of times to visit second cousins. My grandfather Domenico Chelli immigrated to the US from Poggio Picenze in early 1920s. I think many settled in Western PA, West Virginia and also NY.
