Immigration Records From 1880s

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Immigration Records From 1880s

Post by February »

Could anyone tell me if there are immigration records available for the 1880s? I've gotten other records from Ellis Island but they only go back to 1892. Is there any other database with earlier arrivals?

Thanks for any help.

You might try the CASTLE GARDEN site. The database covers 1820-1892 :-)

FamilySearch.org also has images of NY passenger manifests from 1820-1891 if you are having trouble locating a particular name. Clicking through these things and eyeballing them takes time, but if someone was misindexed and you have a small enough date range, it may be helpful:

I'm currently stepping through the 1875 ones looking for a Francesco Romagnano.
