Burial - 1817, Perlasca nr Lake Como

Post by trevorlabey8 »

On the 3rd September 1817 one Mrs Yeats Brown died at Perlasca, near Lake Como. A few days later, a death notice appeared in The Times in London. However, both that notice and others only describe her as Mrs Yeats Brown, so in order to be sure that these notices relate to the right individual, I really need someone to find any death or burial entries that exist in local records to get a better fix on her identity.

Could someone please tell me:

1. how to go about this?
2. how much information was recorded at that time?
3. are there any costs involved?

Many thanks

Hi and welcome!
For the period 1816-1866 in the Province of Como vital records were kept by the parishes. But there is no parish or Comune with the name Perlasca. Sure about the place of death?

(Sorry suanj, I am not good at quoting)
So the records for 1817 should be in the parish archive of Santa Tecla
piazza Giovio 1
22020 Torno (CO)

I believe that the church ( almost currently) is Chiesa di San Giorgio/Saint George church, related to Santa Tecla church, so I believe that if you will write in Santa Tecla the priest will be able to help you... or maybe the priest can say you where the old church records are, inf in Santa Tecla parish or in Como Diocesan archive...
