St Joseph's Table is a Sicilian tradition which was brought to many areas of the U.S. by Sicilian immigrants. Here are some articles and photos of decorated tables in honor of St. Joseph's feast day.

Also happy birthday to my paternal grandfather who died in 1968. His name was Joseph as well.

What a lovely song – thank you for sharing it Biff.

This post brings back childhood memories. Feast days were always important to my mum and she always had special dishes that she would prepare on those days. She use to make “Zappoli di Santo Giuseppe” on St Joseph's day for a sweet treat.

My paternal nonna's father was Giuseppe and our eldest son's middle name is Joseph.

Buona Festa

May I offer you a Zeppola for my name-day?
It was yesterday, but I hope you enjoy this late gift...

Delightful!

Thank you - they look good enough to eat - too bad it's lent! They are quite different to the ones mum made. She just coated hers in either sugar and spice or honey and hundreds and thousands. I think every town possibly has their own variation (and probably spelling as well?) She use to just form the dough into different shapes as she was dropping the dough into the oil. She use to make two different types of zeps. The other were my favourite - they looked like doughnuts and were made with potato and coated with spice and brown sugar. She always made these on my birthday.

Belated Buona Festa Pippo.
